
Amit Solanki
Social work Intern
Amit Solanki is a Master of Social Work (MSW) candidate with clinical and trauma specialization at the University of Kentucky. He passionate about applying mindfulness-based and cognitive-behavioral approaches to therapy.
Amit has direct experience supporting diverse populations through his recent internship at Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services’ Adult Family Care program, where he conducted psychosocial assessments and developed person-centered care plans. He has also co-facilitated a dementia family caregiver training program and provided crisis intervention and supportive counseling to older adults and their families. He has worked as a community support specialist and benefits specialist at SCES before that. As a trilingual speaker of English, Hindi, and Gujarati, Amit is dedicated to providing culturally sensitive and empathetic care to individuals and families from all walks of life.
Before pursuing his passion for social work, Amit had a career as a research scientist specializing in nanophotonics and semiconductor physics. He holds a Ph.D. in Nanophysics from CEA Grenoble in France and a Master of Science in Nanotechnology from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. This background in technology and science informs his current work, particularly his involvement with Harvard’s Social Technology for Global Aging and Eldercare initiative, where he works to bridge the gap between the needs of the elderly and available resources through technology.
